Wolfram Line Project
Mineral
- Tungsten/Wolfram (W)
“The disseminated wolframite within the Wolfram Line dyke offers an easily explored and attractive exploration target”
(Gold Copper Exploration Ltd, 1971)
Overview
Tungsten is the primary target mineral within the geological occurrence known as the Wolfram Line, a nearly continuous north-west trending quartz ridge containing massive and bladed wolframite. It outcrops on EPM 27231 for approximately 1km and is clearly visible on visual inspection.
The Wolfram Line has the potential to be a bulk tonnage tungsten resource that can be recovered using gravity methods.
Historical exploration
In the mid-1960s, the Bird brothers treated 42 cubic yards (32m³) of scree at a grade of 0.2% and 65% recovery. R.B. Mining Pty Ltd drilled out two percussion drill holes in 1969 (see below). WLP 1 intersected a cross-fault line, whilst WLP2 showed encouraging mineralisation from 40 feet and appeared open at depth.
Gold Copper’s early 1970s exploration included geological mapping, with the company reporting a visual estimate of 0.2% WO3 along a 1km strike in line with the Tommy Burns mine.
Value capture
The Wolfram Line remains untested at depth and along strike. As a top priority, the company intends to conduct extensive research in this promising area. Exploration planning is underway, with DCM’s first drilling set to begin in 2024.
